Scorpio Full Moon – May 14, 2014

Scorpio Full Moon – May 14, 2014

The Full Moon forms at 23 degrees, 54 minutes Scorpio at 12:15 pm PDT on May 14, 2014.  The Scorpio full moon is known as the Vesak or Wesak Moon in Asia and is celebrated as the Buddha’s birthday.  Devout Buddhists gather at their temples before dawn to honor the Buddha, the Dharma (his teachings) and the Sangha (his disciples).  Offerings of flowers, candles and incense are made.  Birds, insects, and animals are released in a symbolic act of liberation.  Prayers are offered and special efforts are made to bring happiness to the aged, unfortunate, sick, and handicapped.  The day commemorates the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and passing.   The Moon in Scorpio supports deep, perpetual, and permanent transformation.

We are still feeling April’s grand cross.  And now that it’s passed, we’re feeling MUCH better but totally different.  We’re not quite sure how we feel or what we should be doing but we’re sorting it out.   The effects of the cross are much diminished to be sure.  Still, it remains loosely intact.  In the wake of these events, we will begin the real work of clearing and rebuilding. To that end we can call on the Grand Trine in the water signs at this Full Moon.  This Full Moon in Scorpio conjuncts Saturn in Scorpio and trines Chiron in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer.   Trines reduce stress and release pressure, especially when the planets in the trine are involved in squares with other planets.  Chiron is squaring Mercury and Jupiter is still squaring Uranus and now Venus. The supportive and easy energy of the water sign trine goes a long way toward building bridges over troubled water!

But we can’t just throw together any old bridge.  Saturn’s transit of Scorpio is teaching us about the transformative power of structure.  A poorly planned and badly built bridge doesn’t help anyone and it’s dangerous to boot!  This message is much less showy than the fireworks of the grand cross but no less important.  In fact the grand trine in water helps us to clarify how we feel about impending structural changes.  The water signs carry feeling and emotion.  Cancer initiates and acts, Scorpio concentrates and fixes, and Pisces translates and distributes.  It is important that we know how we feel and that we are clear about what and who supports our growth and what and who does not.  I wish I had a dollar for all the times I’ve suggested that it was time to clear and eliminate that and those who actively or passive-aggressively resist change and impede progress.

Let go of your fears.   Really – just stop it!   Quit playing it safe.  Take a risk.  What are you afraid of?  The conjunction of the Moon and Saturn in Scorpio asks:  What do you desire?  What is keeping you from what you desire?  What are you willing to give up to get what you want?  What actions are you willing to take?  If you are unwilling to act, your inaction will have consequences.  Just believe that.  You can be a creator or a victim.  Take your pick.  The way forward now is the bold path.  Decide.  Take a risk.  Don’t sit around wringing your hands, wondering what to do.  You know what to do.

Meanwhile, Venus in Aries contacts all the planets Involved in last month’s grand cross.  On May 11 she opposes Mars in Libra.  On the 14th she squares Pluto in Capricorn.  The next day, she conjuncts Uranus in Aries.  Finally, on the 18th she squares Jupiter in Cancer.   Venus in Aries is a bold little vixen.  She knows what she values and loves and she’s not shy about letting everyone know about it.  This little tour of the star players of April’s main event helps us to clarify our values, visions and trajectory.   On May 19 Mars stations direct at 9 degrees Libra.  Mars will be moving forward from now.  It is time to act on what we’ve learned since March 1st.  Mars and Venus are in mutual reception (occupying each other’s signs of rulership).  This increases their intensity and likewise ups the ante for us.  The cardinal cross may be relaxing but the cardinal energies are not waning.  Mars moves into Scorpio on July 20.  Until then, it’s full speed ahead.

It may seem counter intuitive, but the best way forward really is full speed ahead.  Toss what’s weighing you down.  Give your fears the old heave-ho.  Lighten up.  Clear the decks. The Sabian Symbol for 24 degrees Scorpio is: “ After having heard an inspired individual deliver his ‘sermon on the mount’ crowds are returning home; the need to incorporate inspiring experiences and teachings into everyday living.”  Yep.  That’s where we’re at.  Take that leap of faith.
