Sagittarius Full Moon – June 12-13, 2014

Sagittarius Full Moon – June 12 -13, 2014

The Full Moon forms at 22 degrees, 5 minutes Sagittarius at 9:11 pm PDT on June 12 and at 4:11 am GMT on June 13, 2014.  This full moon re-activates the Grand Crosses of the Gemini Full Moon in December 17, 2013 which lasted into January 2014 and the second and most potent formation of the Grand Cross, which peaked April 20 – 23.  You may remember that the April event was sandwiched between a pair of eclipses.   This third Grand Cross is more loosely defined and peaks between June 14 – 25.  We’re still integrating the events of the first six months of 2014.  As you’ve probably guessed, this won’t happen overnight.  This full moon reiterates those lessons.

Sagittarius is the perpetual optimist.  Not a fan of detail; he sees the big picture.  Expansion and inclusion are second nature to Sag.  Gemini happily gathers and shares information in a rather indiscriminate fashion.  Sagittarius translates and distributes that information in the form of a philosophy, sharing it with a specifically targeted audience.  Sag is the true believer of the zodiac – a zealous and tireless advocate for what he perceives as truth.  It is no wonder that our galactic center is placed in Sagittarius or that the symbol for the sign is a centaur equipped with a bow, in full gallop, and aiming his arrow for the stars.

We are at the end of the beginning of Mercury retrograde.  So it’s entirely appropriate that we review, rework, redefine, rearrange, repeat, retell, and recap.  Mercury is in Cancer now so our thinking could get a bit emotional, sentimental, anxious, and fearful.  We could actually start thinking that we need to have certainty before we can move forward with anything.  And that’s where we’ll get into trouble.  We all have major changes to make.  When was the last time you had a major life shift that didn’t involve uncertainty and a fair degree of discomfort?  Why would you set yourself up for disappointment by expecting a smooth and certain path from here to there?  Wouldn’t it make more sense to enjoy the circuitous journey, allowing random and unexpected elements to add spice and tickle fancies you never even knew you had?  That could be a fun way to spend the Mercury retrograde.  Why not cultivate loving kindness toward the self and others?  And if others are really annoying you – just leave them alone!

Venus in Taurus and Saturn in Scorpio stand in opposition at this full moon, urging us to clarify our values and boundaries.  This aspect supports the message of the full moon in Sagittarius.  What do you believe?  What will you do and how will you implement those beliefs?  If you had the Archer’s bow and arrow – where would you aim?  Would your aim be true?

Summer Solstice (in the northern hemisphere) occurs next week on June 21 accompanied by an irritable Aries moon squaring Pluto and conjuncting Uranus.  Emotions are bound to run high.  The Sun’s movement into Cancer opens a cardinal gateway, making it much easier to act.  This could go easy or it could go hard.  Don’t fly off in seventeen directions!  This will be a time ready new projects for a launch in July.  It’s a great time to test-drive some of those innovative solutions you’ve arrived at during the retrograde.  Test-drive – don’t take a road trip!  Mercury won’t turn direct till the first week of July.

With Jupiter in Cancer, his sign of exaltation and the Full Moon in Sagittarius, the sign ruled by Jupiter, we are favored with some super positive vibes!  Jupiter’s yearlong transit of Cancer has really softened the blow of the otherwise difficult aspects of the last six months – believe it or not!  Wherever (in what house) the sign of Cancer appears in your chart, you can expect generous benefic support form Jupiter.  He will be moving into Leo in late July and will be there for about a year.  I’ve got to say it’s been a great year for yours truly, the humble Cancer astrologer.  I’m completing a year-long yoga teacher training program on June 26.  Jupiter’s enthusiasm, protection and strength have been amazing.  And I look forward to his transit of my Leo ascendant/first house over the next year!!!  Wherever you are, bask in Jupiter’s exaltation.  He and Sagittarians everywhere have much to teach us about the nature of belief and faith.

Happy Solstice to All!
