Gemini New Moon – June 8, 2013
The New Moon forms at 18 degrees 01 minutes Gemini at 8:58 am PDT on June 8, 2013. With the New Moon, Sun, Mars and Jupiter in Gemini, we are experiencing a lightness that has been sorely missed of late. It feels like the windows have been opened. There is a sense of being able look up, take a deep breath and begin to take stock of our new position. We are seeing much movement at personal, societal and universal levels. We are not currently slogging through the shadowy depths of our psyches, battling the giants and monsters that reside there so much as we are now organizing our intelligence, clarifying our position and mobilizing our forces for the coming months.
Gemini is broad but not particularly deep. The sign has a penchant for the collection and dissemination of information. Nervous and restless, Gemini and his ruler Mercury are always on the lookout for brilliant, innovative and provocative information and ideas. Information has no moral weight. Our personal perceptions, judgments, and conclusions give information its weight and associative meaning. So this is a time to check our information and to sort fact from fiction. The facts may be unpleasant. The fiction may be divine. No matter, it’s time to get it sorted.
That may be even more difficult than it sounds. Just to make it all that a little more interesting, Neptune in Pisces stations retrograde on June 7 and immediately trines Venus and Mercury in Cancer and Saturn is Scorpio. The water signs are concerned with feeling and emotion. Objectivity is not water’s strong suit. However, the energy of the grand trine in water encourages us to identify and align ourselves with our highest ideals, values and truths. Venus is exalted in Pisces and shows her purest expression of love in that sign. Her trine to Neptune and conjunction with Mercury amplifies the themes of knowledge, truth, and love that surround this New Moon. Saturn in Scorpio reminds us that actions have consequences and that what is not serving us must be released. Our perceptions and judgments do matter. But they must serve a higher purpose at a higher octave. That which does not serve love, knowledge, and truth does not serve at all.
Neptune’s slowdown and retrograde in his home sign of Pisces brings attention to the water signs. We are experiencing heavy rains, tornados, severe storms, hurricanes, tropical storms, massive flooding and eccentric rip tides. It is probable that the tropical storm season will be quite active this year. We will feel the emphasis of the water signs this summer. We may experience strong emotional storms and a sense of being overwhelmed or “flooded” with feelings. It has been revealed that the United States has been actively mining data from individuals’ mobile phone and internet activity. Several weeks ago the U.S. was found to be investigating the news media and its sources and correspondents. Large cities and small towns around the world employ CCTV (closed circuit television) to track the daily comings and goings of its people. We are still wrestling with the wiki-leaks scandal. We are flooded with information and assaulted with surveillance. The current Mercury- Venus conjunction opposes Pluto and begs the questions: Is there any such thing as a secret anymore? Is there a difference between privacy and secrecy? Again, it’s a matter of perception and a judgment call.
Over the next two weeks, Mercury will blaze through Cancer, stationing retrograde at 23 degrees Cancer on June 26. He will station direct on July 20 at 13 degrees Cancer. This Mercury retrograde could be an extremely moody and subjective slice of time. Emotional thinking could dominate the scene. Jupiter will move into Cancer on June 25 for his once every twelve year visit. Cancer is the Cardinal Water. Cancer is not content to merely feel but is compelled to act from a place of deep emotion and feeling. Cardinal signs initiate and desire movement above all else. Do not forget that once Jupiter enters into Cancer, he will become a player in the drama that is the ongoing Uranus-Pluto squares. Planets in Cancer will oppose Pluto in Capricorn and square Uranus in Aries creating a T-Square aspect. The next exact Uranus Pluto Square will be in early November. The water signs are coming on strong now and will further complicate and enrich these planetary patterns by adding a layer of emotional consciousness and awareness.
All of this makes it imperative that you take this time to establish a personal base camp of objectivity. Use this clear spot well. Take the opportunity to clarify, verify and set your personal trajectory for the summer. Get your facts, fictions and itineraries sorted. You’ll be glad you did. And remember: That which does not serve love does not serve at all.
