Gemini Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse – November 30, 2020
Tonight’s Gemini Moon will be Full at 8 degrees, 38 minutes at 1:29am PST and at 9:29am GMT. It’s a seemingly minor Lunar Eclipse. But if 2020 has shown us anything, it’s that we should expect the unexpected and pay attention to what’s in front of us, clamoring for our attention. We humans have a habit of equating the idea of “small” with the idea of “not powerful”. Big mistake – have you ever heard the phrase “small but mighty”?
Eclipses mark a crossroads or turning point which move us forward on our paths, revealing the finish of one cycle and the beginning of what come next. We are faced with choices that range from a simple “stick with the status quo”, “consider change but maybe don’t change”, “change gradually but not too much”, to the very complex and slightly scary, “transform or die”. All of these options carry consequences and new requirements. In all cases we must choose – and face lesser or greater difficulties at the next juncture.
On December 14, (coincidently the day that the United State’s Electoral College will certify its Presidential election) there will be a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 23 degrees Sagittarius. Both eclipses occur just before the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction at 1 degree of Aquarius on December 21. This will be a major point of choice for all beings here on planet Earth. This precise alignment of the Sun, Moon and Earth intensifies all the energies that surround us. This eclipse energy instructs, tests, and then certifies our passage from the old ways and ushers us safely into the new. The more an eclipse aspects our birth chart, the more transformation and change we can expect as a result. This energy will continue for the next 6 months (until the next set of eclipses).
Eclipses create an atmosphere of magic, illusion, and strangeness. Neptune is getting a lot of action during this eclipse. Neptune, who loves these atmospheric conditions stations direct after a lengthy retrograde in Pisces on November 29, the day before the eclipse. This eclipse occurs in the signs of Gemini and Sagittarius and Neptune is pleased to lend a mystical aura to the occasion; joining in by squaring the Sun and Moon and highlighting dreams, clear-seeing, psychic engagement, as well as better and more incisive discernment. Neptune is getting a lot of action during this eclipse season. There’s the trine with Venus on December 5, and the square to the Sun on December 9. Neptune can be a changeling. Keep truth close to you. The squares and trines cut both ways. What is working well will have a place in the future. What is not functioning honestly will have to go. That’s one of the challenges of this eclipse – Expansion and Adjustment – Inhale and Exhale. Breathe with the rhythm of the universe.
Be careful of what you consume physically, emotionally and intellectually. Know your truth. Know your value and the value of your community and loved ones. Step into the light, the dark, and the shadowy places between. Know them all. Acknowledge your forward movement. What has always been dear to you and necessary to your happiness and well-being? What has always been at the center of yourself? Realize that this is a blessing and that it is what propels and sustains you.
The old stories are gone. Everything is deepening – becoming more profound. Mercury leaves Scorpio on December 11th but first he will sextile Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto at this eclipse. Mercury, the ruler of Gemini is one of the rulers of this eclipse. He’s quick, concise, persuasive, and startlingly neutral. So you’re going to want to take advantage of his wisdom when he gets to Sagittarius. Because he will definitely have some tales to tell. In the meantime, ride the cosmic waves. See you at the next eclipse.
GO TO THE LIMITS OF YOUR LONGING – Rainier Maria Rilke
God speaks to each of us as he makes us,
Then walks us silently out of the night.
These are the words we dimly hear:
You, sent out beyond your recall,
go to the limits of your longing.
Flare up like a flame
and make big shadows I can move in.
Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.
Just keep going. No feeling is final.
Don’t let yourself lose me.
Nearby is the country they call life.
You will know it by its seriousness
Give me your hand.
