Aries New Moon – April 7, 2016
The New Moon forms at 18 Degrees 04 minutes Aries at 4:23 am PDT, on April 7, 2016. It’s the first official New Moon of the new astrological year and another SuperMoon as well. We’ve left the murky, illusory, and chaotic energies of Pisces behind for the most part. Of course Neptune and Chiron will continue to work their peculiar brand of magic for the next good while. But right now we are firmly ensconced in Aries. Eclipse season is behind us. We’ve closed one six month chapter and begun another. I feel safe in saying that most of us are still trying to figure out what exactly happened in March. I know I am…
February feels like it was three years ago instead of 37-odd days ago. Things have definitely changed. But it’s still a little difficult to say just HOW they’ve changed and IF they’ve really changed decisively. There’s a feeling that perhaps one more shoe has to drop – or that chaos is still loitering idly at the edges of our individual and collective realities waiting for another opportunity to take catch us unawares. And that’s natural. Although a great many planets have changed sign and moved into Aries, a good fair few remain in Pisces continuing the work begun during the eclipse season – namely that we continue to feel all our feelings all the time, working with them and processing them with acute awareness. We’re going to need to get good at this. So practice, practice, practice, makes perfect as your childhood piano teacher would say – It will get you to Carnegie Hall – or the cosmic equivalent.
So can we all agree that this is an “unsettled time”? Could we use a dose of clarity? Yes and yes I think. But here’s the deal. You have to supply your own clarity. It’s been easy to blame others for our situations, easy to fall into either/or thinking and duality, and easy to feel victimized. In order to supply your own vision and clarity you need to concern yourself with yourself. We are in a nebulous time right now. We are however facing a line-up of planetary energies that should open our eyes, widen our horizons, and bring our trajectory into sharper focus.
This week, in addition to the New Moon, we will see and feel the following: Sun in Aries trines Saturn in Sagittarius, squares Pluto in Capricorn and conjuncts Uranus in Aries. That’s a pretty big bundle of energy. Sun in Aries equals “Self”, “I”, and “Me”. Ask yourself: “What do I want? Where do I want to go? How will I manifest My ideas? My biggest piece of advice would be for you to make “I” statements. Not “We” or “They” or “Us” or “You”. “I want to move to_____. I will write an article for____. I desire ____. You get the picture. And it’s not being selfish. If you’re not taking care of yourself, you will be unable to effectively care for those around you. It’s like being on an airplane when the oxygen masks drop. Put your own mask on first. Then help those around you! Aries, for better or for worse is where spirit hits the ground running; bound and determined to individuate and achieve. This is the time to use the initiatory energy of Aries to launch your campaign. Design your trajectory with YOU in mind. You will see how things fall into place when you allow yourself this daring luxury. The Sun’s trine to Saturn creates an atmosphere of great clarity of purpose and desire to design a workable structure. Sun square Pluto reminds us that there is much transformation yet to be done. Continue to release that which has run its course, no longer serves, and impedes your growth. Sun conjunct Uranus sparks creativity, higher mind and the desire for innovation and abrupt, perhaps even radical change. Use this energy to construct a “provisional plan”.
Do this now. The New Moon is powerful this month. The intentions you set now can and will reverberate throughout the coming year. The energy is high and packed with possibility. Very shortly we will be entering a time when five planets will be retrograde. Saturn is currently retrograde in Sagittarius. Jupiter is Rx in Virgo. On April 17, Mars will Rx at 08 Sagittarius and begin retracing his steps until he lands at 23 degrees Scorpio on June 28 where he will station direct eventually reaching his degree of Rx on August 21. Meanwhile, less than 24 hours later on April 18, Pluto will station Rx at 18 degrees Capricorn. He will station direct on September 25. And finally – Spoiler Alert – Mercury will station Rx on April 28 at 23 Taurus, stationing direct at 14 Taurus on May 22, on the day after the Sagittarius Full Moon. That’s five – count ‘em – 5 retrograde planets! Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto. So, you see, you will have PLENTY of time and opportunity to refine and internalize your intentions and plans that you set at this New Moon.
It’s really a question of what you want. These are intense times. And as we approach 2020, they’re likely to get more intense. Now is the time to set your feet upon the path that will somehow take you where you want to go. It’s true all plans are created to be disrupted and redesigned. That will happen. We plan – the Universe/God laughs. But a set of guidelines drawn up specifically by you and for you is a fine thing to have when you find yourself having to redraw that path or build that temporary bridge you never thought you’d have to build. No plan is perfect – and yours doesn’t have to be either. So at this particular New Moon …. Dare to dream it. Dare to plan it. Dare to refine it. And dare to hit the ground with sure feet. Ask an Aries. They know.
