Aries New Moon – April 15 – 16, 2018
The New Moon forms at 26 degrees, 2 minutes Aries at 6:57 pm PDT on April 15, and at 1:57 am GMT on April 16, 2018. The Aries new Moon is always power-packed. Aries initiates and hits the ground running every time. It’s not his nature to go slow or play it cool. Aries wants what he wants when he wants it – and there’s usually not much anyone can do about it. Mercury in Aries stations direct after his retrograde tonight – thank God! Due to this retrograde he will double his time in Aries this year, staying until May 13. But the big news is that this new moon is conjunct Uranus at the very last degrees of Aries. 28 degrees to be exact. Uranus has been in Aries for the last seven years he will be moving into Taurus next month. That will be some very different energy!
The last degrees of any sign are the most powerful. Holding on to that power – failing to release it – that’s the most dangerous. All things must pass. This lunation sees the Sun and the Moon conjunct Uranus in Aries. Chiron at 29 degrees will be leaving Pisces on April 17, releasing his Piscean Victim/Martyr/Savior stance and trading it in for a new Arian identity: Wounded Warrior/Courageous and Kind-hearted.
So it’s safe to say that we are living in contentious, swiftly and perhaps irreversibly changing times. Yes – I know that sometimes it feels like nothing is ever going to change and that we’re stuck – or worse yet – doomed. But that’s simply not true. We are not at the mercy of the planets. It’s our job to harness and direct the energies we’re presented with. And that’s not a curse. It’s a blessing. It may be difficult to see the way forward, but as my teacher says, “If it were easy it wouldn’t be any fun.”
Saturn is ready to station retrograde at 9 degrees Capricorn on April 17. He will be retrograde in the early degrees of Capricorn until September 6. Use this time to review any and all plans, structures, and procedures you might be working with. Saturn is an organizational perfectionist. He leaves no stone unturned in his quest for excellence. We are living in very uncertain times. Things are moving quickly. Why not shoot for excellence? If you are having any reservations, doubts, or concerns about your personal structure, direction, or goal, this is the ideal time to consult with Saturn. I know he’s not a lot of fun. He’s a curmudgeon actually– but he really does want you to get it right.
Mars at 16 Capricorn is still mixing it up with Saturn and Pluto. He will conjunct Pluto on April 26, challenging us to be honest about what’s working and what’s not, what’s sustainable and what is intolerable. Pluto will also be turning retrograde on April 22 at 21 degrees Capricorn. He will station direct on September 30 at 19 degrees Capricorn. Pluto moves slowly, very thoroughly and consciously. This confluence of Saturn/Pluto retrogrades will really shine a light on what needs fixing, tweaking, or outright jettisoning. All this action in Capricorn is setting the stage for a new way forward. And this energy will begin to feel relentless. Because it is… And there is so much change on the horizon.
So here we are – Aries New Moon. What will you do? How will you craft this upcoming cycle? Use the power of this new beginning. There is so much room for recalibration now! Look around, out, and up. See the possibilities. Feel the changes. Feel the direction. Know the truth of you and your desires. It’s all so uncertain out there. It could go any of a thousand ways. You cannot concern yourself with that. See your path. Then be your path.
