Aquarius New Moon – February 18, 2015
The New Moon forms at 29 degrees, 59 minutes Aquarius at 3:47 p.m. on February 18, 2015. This is the fifth of six new moons that form at the very first or very last degrees of a sign. What? I know! Didn’t we just have a New Moon in Aquarius? Why, yes we did! And we enjoyed the first one so much we thought we’d ask it back. Well – that’s not exactly true…. It is true that the first New Moon in Aquarius was also a SuperMoon (see Aquarius New Moon of 1/20/15 for an explanation and description of SuperMoons). The first Aquarius moon formed three hours after the Sun entered Aquarius. The current Aquarius moon forms just two minutes before the Sun’s movement into Pisces.
Last month at the first New Moon in Aquarius I indicated that the time between these two full moons would be important. So I’m checking in. Has it been important? What have you learned – or more importantly – unlearned in the last 30 days? What has died and what has risen in its place? How did the Mercury retrograde treat you? Are you raw and ready for change? Are you ready to close out the time of the Cardinal Climax?
This is the beginning of a new cycle. On March 16, the last of seven exact Uranus-Pluto squares finish the energies of the Cardinal Climax initiated with Pluto’s entrance into Capricorn in 2008. However, Pluto is not leaving Capricorn any time soon. Oh no, that won’t happen until January 2024. So don’t get too excited! And although Uranus and Pluto will still be close enough to form a square aspect in the future, they will not form any exact squares. Eventually their combined influence will wane and become background music. And that’s good news!
Two minutes after today’s New Moon we will find the Sun, Moon, Neptune, Chiron, Venus and Mars all in Pisces. The New Moon at the very last few seconds of Aquarius rolls into Pisces with incredible ease and naturalness, releasing the heady futuristic intellectualism of Aquarius and acquiring the cosmic ecstasy and loving kindness of Pisces. It’s a very nice change of pace but it’s not without its cautions. Over this next week Venus and Mars, the archetypal Lovers of the zodiac will move into Aries reaching a conjunction on February 21 – 22. This will bring an urgency and intensity to all activity. The Moon and Uranus will join the pair in Aries and what was a universal love fest in Pisces is likely to turn into something like a brawl at your cousin’s wedding. With Venus and Mars leaving the party for hot sex afterwards. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and a fire sign to boot. Ruled by Mars, Aries wants movement NOW! What starts a fire? A spark. You know the old saying: “You can’t start a fire without a spark.” There could be some hot times both politically and romantically in the days ahead. After the long weekend Venus and Mars will queue up for their front row seats at the last Uranus-Pluto square
That leaves the Sun, Neptune and Chiron in Pisces. The first major aspect the Sun encounters is a square to Saturn in Sagittarius on February 23. This is a pretty big reality check for the Sun. The first of many to come. Saturn’s entrance into Sagittarius at the end of 2014 has activated the mutable signs whose job it is to translate and distribute information. This and future squares and oppositions to planets in Pisces, Gemini, and Virgo will act as a fail-safe-fact-checking device. In other words – a goof-proof-bullshit-detector. Saturn, the ultimate pragmatist, is concerned with what works and what is real. Sagittarius is a natural spin-doctor. This is a very wise combination and one to be reckoned with. Expect some interesting times over the next two and a half years.
The rules of the game are changing.
A small slice of conversation from the Mad Hatter’s tea party in Alice in Wonderland should prove instructive:
Mad Hatter: (to Alice) Would you like a little more tea?
Alice: I haven’t had any yet so I can’t very well take more.
March Hare: Ah, you mean you can’t very well take less.
Mad Hatter: You can always take more than nothing.
Are you ready for the advanced level colloquium: “Neptune in Pisces”? You can still enroll. It promises to be a real eye and heart opener!!!
