Aquarius Full Moon – July 22, 2013

Aquarius Full Moon – July 22, 2013

The Full Moon forms at 00 degrees 05 minutes Aquarius at 11:17 am PDT on July 22, 2013.  The Sun which fully illuminates this moon, has just arrived in Leo.  This year we will have 2 Full Moons in Aquarius; the second forms on August 20.  The current Full Moon is the third of three SuperMoons in a row.  A SuperMoon is when the Moon is at both Perigee (its closest approach to Earth) and Syzygy (in alignment with the Sun).  The Moon will be large, expressive and insistent.

We experience the greatest concentration of solar energy in late July and early August.  The Leo Sun is radiant, hot, and concentrated.  The creative, expressive and generative powers of the Sun are maximized in Leo.  Leo is physically vital, expansive, and generous and encourages us to emanate our truest and most individual expression.  Across the wheel, Aquarius receives the creative impulses of Leo and distributes them to the world of human society.  Aquarius is the sign most concerned with moving humanity forward.  This is where the fruit of the individual’s creative labors enters the community to become Art, Music, Literature, Philosophy, Architecture, Science, and all the classical disciplines that coalesce to become Culture with a capital C.

All creations of every size and shape must make this journey from the spark of personal experience and expression through physical reality and into the collective in order to affect and enrich humankind.  Aquarius is the place where we create community and unity in the truth of who we are as individuals.  It is this union and dissolution of the one with and into the many that creates the greater One that is all of us together.   This year we will have two opportunities to celebrate this process in the bright light of the Full Moon.  The first, occurring at the Sun’s ingress to Leo at 00 degrees and the second occurring at the end of the sign at 28 degrees.  This will emphasize the processes of union and dissolution in tandem with the archetype of the individual and the collective.  Although Leo and Aquarius represent a polarity and are referred to in that way, they are not separate.  They are a continuum as are the processes and states of being they represent.  Observe the changes that occur between these two Full Moons.  They might just surprise you.

The Full Moon is a revelation.  What was seeded at the New Moon is revealed in the light of the Full Moon.  We are still experiencing the Grand Trines of July and heading toward a Star of David formation that will be exact on July 29.  When all the points of this star formation are connected it will form not only two Grand Trines but also six sextiles and a geometric solid known as a tetrahedron.  This is extremely rare and very short lived, occurring between 7:00 am and 12:00 pm GMT.  This is very concentrated and harmonious energy involving Saturn and the North Node in Scorpio, Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, Pluto in Capricorn, Moon and the South Node in Taurus, Jupiter, Mars and Mercury in Cancer and Venus in Virgo.  The only two players left on the side lines are the Sun and Uranus who will be engaged in their own separate trine formation.  This will be a powerful time to connect with source.  Spend some of this time in nature or in meditation if possible.

We are being buffeted by the Pluto Uranus squares.  As planets move into Cancer, they oppose Pluto and square Uranus adding to the dissonance and upping the ante for change.  The Water trines soothe and harmonize this background noise but fail to drown it out.  Mercury has turned direct but Uranus, the higher octave or Mercury is now retrograde.  Surprise!  It’s basically the same as having Mercury retrograde – except the stakes are higher.  This is the Universal Mind – not the timekeeper, fact-checker, messenger, trickster guy represented by Mercury.  No, Uranus is the ruthless truth seeking radical who wants revolution and freedom at any cost. He’s a real militant.  Read your mythology.  So there’s good news and bad news.  Uranus will station direct in December.  But – the imperative to transform is not going away anytime soon.

Be the truth of you.  Reveal your creativity.  Unite in community with others of like mind.  Let the light of the Leo Sun warm your limbs and your heart in the daylight.  Let the reflected light of the Leo Sun illuminate your darkness at this Aquarius Full Moon.  Delight in the continuum of light.
