Pisces Full Moon – September 8 – 9, 2014

The Full Moon forms at 16 degrees, 19 minutes Pisces at 6:38 pm PDT on September 8, and at 1:38 am GMT.  This is the fifth and last SuperMoon of the 2014.  We are midway through Virgo.  We are no longer in the state of siege that characterized the first half of the year.  It’s becoming clear that the energy has finally shifted.  And it’s unclear how things will shake out once the dust has settled.  August was difficult and downright gut wrenching at times.  And it was pretty impossible to describe just what was going on. It remains to be seen how we will find our footing and realign our energies.  The big picture is fuzzy.  Tempers and old antagonisms are flaring.  The old allies and enemies are lining up one more time to see if they can drag us and each other backward into the bad old days.  This is one more desperate attempt to reignite the hostility, cynicism, and bitterness that has played so well and fit so comfortably all these many centuries.  It’s another push to lock it down and keep us at each other’s throats.  These reactionary forces will not go down without a fight.  That is clear.

Sun in Virgo is earthy, pragmatic, and insistent on applying its skill and knowledge to the greater good.  Virgo symbolizes the competent woman.  She is independent and does not exist in the shadow of men nor for their pleasure.  She is her own authority.  Moon in Pisces is dreamy, watery, idealistic and deeply romantic.   The Virgo/Pisces polarity is perhaps one of the most complex in the zodiac.  Virgo demands precision, perfection, and practicality.  Her ability to analyze, discern, and decide is unsurpassed.  But she is charitable, service oriented, and concerned with community.  Virgo eschews the personal egoist viewpoint of Leo in favor of what is practical and will be of most benefit to all.  Pisces is also concerned with perfection – of the spirit and community in the largest sense imaginable.  Together they hold the energy of perfection on earth and in the heavens.

Recently, Regulus, one of the Royal Persian stars moved from his position in the constellation of Leo into Virgo.  There are two different zodiacs – tropical and sidereal.  The tropical zodiac is based on Earth’s seasons and the sidereal zodiac is measured relative to the fixed stars themselves.  It takes thousands of years to notice this movement which occurs due to a wobble in the Earth’s rotation.  The tropical zodiac shifts “backwards” through the sidereal zodiac, creating what’s called Precession.  An example of this would be to say that 0 degrees Aries is no longer aligned with the constellation of Aries but is now located in Pisces.  The next location of precession would be Aquarius which is one more sign away from Aries.  The star in question moves very slowly – about 1 degree every 72 years.  Regulus, aka “Cor Leonis”, the heart of the Lion (does anyone remember “The Godfather” and the Corleone family?) had been aligned with Leo since about 157BCE.  The star’s movement into Virgo signifies a major paradigm shift.  It’s the beginning of the end of our current patriarchal power structure.  The common competent woman is ascending.  And the powers that be and have been for centuries are not happy about it!

The Full Moon is conjunct Chiron in Pisces.  This is a very emotional coupling.  The Moon carries our emotions and memories.  Chiron signifies the wound we’ve brought with across time and space into this lifetime.  We agree to work to heal this wound when we choose to incarnate.  The conjunction of the Full Moon with Chiron reminds us that we have work to do and that this is the time to do it.  Our personal wounds are one thing, but the universal spiritual wounds that we share as inhabitants and citizens of our planet are quite another.  This full moon illuminates the places where we as a species are in error.  It challenges us to repair the damage we’ve done to our personal and spiritual selves as well as to our environment and cultural constructs.  Saturn in Scorpio forms a trine to Chiron making it easier to launch this effort.  Saturn is getting ready to leave Scorpio for Sagittarius at the end of this year.  He’s uncovered a lot of information that will assist us in this work and he is very willing to share it for the greater good.   Venus in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces placing emphasis on what we value and what we are willing to sacrifice in order to sustain and cultivate those values.

We are no longer experiencing the violent and repeated assaults of the Cardinal Grand Cross.  We have two more exact Uranus/Pluto squares – one in December and another next March.  And while things may appear to be very dramatic or potentially drama-producing, they don’t carry the same energetic as the events of the past couple years.  In a very deep way you have already been prepared for this time we are experiencing now.  You know what to do.  You just haven’t had much opportunity to practice yet.  We are all going to get that opportunity now.  Practice what you preach and what you value.  Take radical responsibility for your actions.  Practice will make perfect so be conscious of what and how you practice.  Prepare to evolve – and prepare to do it quickly!
