Libra – Aries Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse – April 4, 2015

Tonight’s the Night… Tonight’s the Night… (Singing this like Neil Young, please). The Full Moon forms and peaks at 14 degrees Libra at 5:05 am PDT on April 4, 2015. There will be a total Lunar Eclipse that will be the shortest of the 21st century, lasting less than five minutes. The entire eclipse will last several hours but the main event will be short and sweet. The total lunar eclipse will be visible from western North America, eastern Asia, the Pacific, Australia and New Zealand. Europe, Africa and the Middle East will not see the eclipse. The Eastern United States and Canada will see only a partial eclipse. The Moon will set before the eclipse becomes total.
This is the third of four Total Lunar Eclipses in a row – a lunar tetrad. There will be a total of eight tetrads in the 21st century. As an example of how rare they are, consider that there were none at all between 1582 and 1908. We have been moving rapidly. We’ve been down the river and through the rapids. These eclipses are encoding our DNA and cellular structures with information and instructions for the coming times. You can believe that or not but you might want to genuinely consider what that means. We continue to weather the solar storms and flares that impact our magnetic fields, tides, global climates and our evolution as sentient beings and inhabitants of Earth.
We are at a watershed moment. Ecologically, politically, culturally, economically – in just about every way you can think of! This event seals the energies, occurrences, and experiences of the last three years of exact Uranus-Pluto squares and dominant cardinal influences. The time capsule is sealed. Bury it in your backyard or in your own personal pyramid somewhere. What’s done is done. Pencils down. Pass your papers to the front of the room.
The middle degrees of the cardinal signs have been hot for the last few years and they will remain so for most of this year – more or less – waning in intensity after we pass through the fall eclipse season. Eclipses run in 19 year cycles. We can certainly hope that you’re not dragging anything forward from 19 years ago! (1996 in case your math brain is foggy). And if you’re thinking about it or thinking that it won’t matter …. Please reconsider that line of thinking! Enough said.
Because we’re talking about Libra and Aries at this Full Moon we have to look deeply at our relationships. Aries signifies emergence and individuation where spirit separates from the divine whole and incarnates into matter to begin its journey. Libra, embodies a state of being that has integrated the lessons of the first six signs and is now ready to concentrate on relationship. These definitions by no means guarantee that the Aries spirit will successfully individuate or that the Libra individual will live happily ever after, bathed in the rosy glow of perfect relationship with others. Oh No – it’s not that simple Folks! But the Moon is eclipsed in Libra. She is overshadowed. And so you might want to ask yourself, “What’s going on in the shadows of my relationship (s)?” When the eclipse has come and gone we will still be working with the energy of the shadow and what’s hidden when the Sun in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn and conjuncts Uranus and the South Node in Aries on April 5 and 6. And we might get some extremely surprising answers with that Uranus-South Node kicker. As in things you thought were over and done with have been going on continuously without your acknowledgement or actual knowledge…. Or maybe you (and a lot of other people too) have just been kind of clueless about certain things. And as the energy of the eclipse wanes on Sunday April 5, the Moon will enter Scorpio, ruled by Pluto. So it’s a very shadowy weekend. And a very strange Easter morning. Mercury will square Pluto on April 7 (don’t forget: Mercury is the only one who can come and go from Olympus to the Underworld and back with impunity!) and conjunct Uranus on April 8. On April 8 Jupiter will station direct at 13 degrees Leo. He’ll be chomping at the bit to get going on creative and expansive projects as he begins the last leg of his tour of Leo. So it should be an interesting week!
The opportunity here is for a fresh start. It’s a definite death and rebirth vibe. Uranus and Pluto are passing out of exactitude but they will be within orb (10 degrees) of squaring each other for the next few years. We’re moving forward. For better or for worse – that part is up to you. As always, it can go easy or it can go hard. The more you resist the changes ahead to more painful it will be. Sitting by the sidelines is really not an option. There’s no cheering section – only participants and non-participants. The impetus for change will be in the air for a while. But it’s super fresh and fragrant NOW. And I always say: There’s nothing like fresh baked opportunity and freedom! Get it while it’s hot! And remember – You can’t have change without change.
