Leo Full Moon – February 3, 2015

The Full Moon forms at 14 degrees, 47 minutes Leo at 3:08 p.m. PST on February 3, 2015. We are at mid-winter – the cross-quarter day known as Candlemas, St Brigid’s Day, Imbolc, and Groundhog Day. The cross-quarter days mark the mid-points between the equinoxes. The four cross-quarter days, also known as fire festivals are: Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh, and Samhain. It is a time to purify, purge and set new intentions for the coming year.
The days grow longer now. We linger on the street in the late afternoon to feel the lengthening rays of the Sun awhile longer. The Leo Full Moon is lion-hearted. We are heartened and encouraged by the return of the light. Slight though it is at this time of the year, we feel the strength of Leo, ruled by the Sun and ruler of the physical and metaphysical heart. We are en- COURAGEd to continue on to spring, rebirth and renewal. It is time to clean house – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
We are still in the midst of the transitional energies that arrived with Saturn’s entrance into Sagittarius. At the same time, we are finishing up with the energies of the Cardinal Cross and the exact Uranus-Pluto squares. The evolutionary and revolutionary impetus will begin to finish up with the last exact Uranus-Pluto square on March 16-17. These two will continue to square each other off and on for some time. They will not, however, be exact. So count your blessings – even if they seem small! Next we move into Eclipse season starting with the Solar Eclipse in Pisces on March 20. The Aries (Vernal) Equinox will occur about 15 minutes after the Total Solar Eclipse at the Pisces New Moon. We finish with the Lunar Eclipse in Libra on April 4. My advice? Don’t break out the barbeque and the deck chairs quite yet. We’re nowhere near done.
We have been processing the cardinality of the last few years. It has NOT been easy! I don’t have to tell you that. As we move through the February, March and April we will be called upon to disseminate this energy. It will be our responsibility to process, consolidate, translate and distribute our hard-won knowledge and experiences. There is much uneasiness, pain, and fear out there on the streets. The years of the cardinal cross battered our psyches, causing an avalanche of sensation at all levels of being. Because of this we are better prepared than most to move with the coming times. It is time to manifest and distribute all that we’ve learned. In doing this we must not be arrogant, contemptuous, or condescending. We must meet all beings as equals and treat them accordingly. This is how we will consolidate and advance the lessons of the cross of matter.
Today we find a pile of planets in Pisces. Neptune, Venus, Chiron and Mars all occupy the sign. The Full Moon conjuncts Jupiter tonight. If you have a clear night you can see Jupiter after sunset just to the left of the Moon as she rises in the east. He will be unmistakable and super bright. Venus conjuncts Neptune and Saturn squares them both. Venus is exalted in Pisces. She relaxes and refreshes her spirit there. She is artistic, loving, dreamy and poetic in the sign. This is a selfless love without boundaries. It is a very creative signature. But the square to Saturn sets her nerves on edge. Neptune adores fantasy. He lives and breathes illusion. Saturn in Sagittarius demands a more ethical and pragmatic approach and Venus feels the squeeze. Neptune feels disappointment, confusion and rejection. Pisces is sensitive. There’s no other word for it. They’re sensitive to everything seen here in the physical world as well as everything that’s unseen in the spirit realm, dreamtime and alternate realities. Their world alive in ways that the rest of us can only begin to guess at. Chiron conjuncts Mars in Pisces and attempts to move the “vision” forward. Chiron wants healing and Mars is ready to do what’s necessary in service of this idea.
Saturn is not ready for this movement. Not yet. Newly arrived in Sag and knowing that he’s due to begin a retrograde back into Scorpio in June that will last all summer…. Well, Saturn wants to have all his ducks in a row – y’know? So it’s ok. We have time to fine tune our energy. We have time to know what is true and what is an illusion. We have time to tune into the idea that we are everything and everything is us. Pisces, and all of us really, “know” this. But being in human form causes us to have both fear and fascination with the concept. We shake it off when it becomes difficult or uncomfortable. This is coming up. By next fall we’ll all have a better handle on it – how to navigate and actually use it.
This full moon connects the sovereign creative human self with the infinite collection of beings and energies that meet and coalesce in realms both seen and unseen. We are at the historical cusp of the Age of Aquarius. We are leaving the Age of Pisces which began over 2000 years ago. We are expanding, growing and consolidating. We’re in the middle bit. As we leave we are feeling wistful, disoriented and apprehensive.
Open up. Use all your senses. Know this:
“All differences in this world are of degree, and not of kind, because oneness is the secret of everything.” Swami Vivekananda
