Capricorn New Moon/Solar Eclipse – January 5-6, 2019

Tonight’s New Moon at 15 degrees, 25 minutes Capricorn, is also a partial Solar Eclipse. Most of us won’t see it as it occurs at very northern latitudes, mostly over Russian and Northern Asia. The Sun and Moon are conjunct in Capricorn. They are surrounded by Mercury, Saturn, Pluto, and the South Node all in Capricorn. That’s quite a gathering. Notice I didn’t say “party” because this is a no-fooling around sort of alignment. This is the first of 5 eclipses in 2019. And just to make sure that we start the New Year off right, the Capricorn stellium wants to make sure that you’re: A) paying full attention, B) committed to change, and C) ready for restructuring and anything/everything that might entail.

2018 was tough. I mean really hard for a lot of people. Venus and Mars retrograde in the same year? C’mon! These are not comfortable or comforting times. This is the big reveal. We hear a lot about changing paradigms, evolution, and energy shifts. Believe me when I say that this is a very big one of ALL those things… and more! Come 2022 – you’ll be in such a different place… So take a look around, absorb the world as you see and know it now. It’s already moving quickly and it’s going to go even faster.

The South Node in Capricorn shows us where we’re hanging onto past activities, ways of thinking and feeling, habits, preferences, strategies, relationships and associations – the whole tired mess. As the old sayings goes – You can’t have Change without Change. Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn is conjunct the Sun and Moon tonight as he moves steadily toward his eventual conjunction with Pluto. It’s not a comfortable time and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of joyousness or excitement about the New Year. There’s a lot of uncertainty and anxiety.
Capricorn is focused on what is and what could be better about what is. Saturn in Capricorn is about structure, mastery, and clear-eyed focus on physical reality. It’s all about how a situation/society can be crafted so that it can benefit everyone. The catch is, that in order to restructure, we’ve got to tear out, get rid of, and walk away from what’s not working. And we’ve got to be very unsentimental about it. And that means everything has to come under scrutiny.

We’ve been through a ton of Scorpio stuff over the last few years. We won’t be experiencing that Scorpionic mode again in any sort of major major way for a while! Do you feel clear about your truth, desires, and actual location in this life? Scorpio = Desire Realized. It’s time for each of us to own it. Completely. And if it’s sloppy or out of alignment – it ain’t gonna work.

This turning of the year, tonight’s eclipse, and the Total Lunar Eclipse of January 21 are presenting the stark reality of where we are now. Eclipses are the starting gun and at the same time they are the finish line. The cycle begins anew as the old one simultaneously ends. Cycles within cycles within cycles… We are coming up to the end of a 35 year cycle. The last time Saturn and Pluto were conjunct was in 1984 when they were in Scorpio. What have we learned? This is both the finalization of the OLD and the initiation into the NEW. And I do mean NEW. So take a good look around – and set your coordinates with precision. And as Bob Dylan once said, “Don’t Look Back.” Happy (and I do mean that!) New Year. It’s going to be wild.
